Started ten years ago by seasoned drummer Dave Watts as a rotating cast of musical friends, today progressive funk band The Motet has refined their sound and vision into a dynamic and expressive force. The Motet features an astonishingly talented cast of musicians who enjoy a palpable rapport when put together – Dave Watts (drums, musical director), Garrett Sayers (bass), Joey Porter (keyboards), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), and horn players Gabe Mervine (trumpet) and Matt Pitts (sax), and brand new vocalist – the scoop coming soon!
Today, The Motet is touring nationwide. The past year found the band’s audiences growing exponentially – with sellout shows from coast to coast including Red Rock’s Amphitheatre, Brooklyn Bowl, and many more, plus huge festival plays such as Electric Forest, Summer Camp, All Good Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Camp Bisco, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, and Arise Music Festival, among others.
Colorado’s Motet emerged as a powerful force in the national live music scene during the past 18 months. Last month, after announcing their band mate and forever brethren Jans Ingber was departing from The Motet to pursue other personal priorities, the band wrapped up a hugely successful 2015 with two sold-out shows: on New Year’s Eve in Atlanta, Georgia and at BB Kings in New York City on January 1. Onward! Stay tuned for up to the minute news on The Motet at www.themotet.net and on their official Facebook page.
