How to be a VIC (Very Important Cowboy) at Rocky Mountain Country Fest

How to be a VIC (Very Important Cowboy) at Rocky Mountain Country Fest

Saddle up, cowboys and cowgirls! Pack your boots, clean your hat, and practice your two-step for Rocky Mountain Country Fest – happening March 15 at Warren Station at Keystone Resort.

After hosting a few country fests here in the Rockies, we know how to throw a barn burner, complete with the very important cowboy (VIC) treatment!

Read on for our step-by-step guide to becoming a VIC at Rocky Mountain Country Fest.

Step 1: Purchase a VIP Ticket

The first step to becoming a Very Important Cowboy is to purchase a VIP Ticket in advance! VIP Tickets are extremely limited, so make sure to purchase in advance to guarantee a boot stompin’ good time. The VIP ticket unlocks the rest of your cowboy adventure.

VIP tickets include exclusive access to a Bardstown Bourbon whiskey tasting, a custom hat fitting by Parker Thomas, line dancing lessons from the Summit County Dance Chicks, and last but not least, a private second set from Denver’s own Union Gray band.

Step 2: Eat a hearty meal

The next step to having a VIC experience at Rocky Mountain Country Fest is getting a hearty meal to start your night off on the right stirrup. Luckily, here at Keystone resort we know how to cook up a western dinner that will fuel your boot scootin’ all night long. We recommend cowboys and cowgirls swing by The Bighorn Bistro (located in Lakeside Village) or Keystone Ranch for a one-of-a-kind dinner experience. Remember to make your reservations early; Rocky Mountain Country Fest doors open early at 6:00pm for VIP ticket holders only.

Step 3: Get your taste on

VIP Tickets include bourbon sampling to warm you up from chilly Keystone! Bardstown Bourbon experts will guide you through tasting 6 different bourbons to spark your inner buckeroo. Sip on a variety of tastes from their classic Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey all the way to Amrut, a collaborative release with the Indian distillers at Amrut Distillery. Voted one of the top 20 whiskies in America, this is one tasting you won’t want to miss.

Step 3: Style those curls or slick back that ‘do

After tasting select Bardstown bourbons, you’ll be ready to design a one-of-a-kind cowboy hat with the help of Parker Thomas. Make sure to comb down those flyway’s and forgo the updo for the night so your head is hat ready.

Parker Thomas is a third-generation, luxury hat maker based in Denver. You get to choose a hat that suits your vibe, then the experts will shape the hat to your head, help you pick out accessories, and even give you the option to add a brand, the true stamp of a VIC. A hat fitting is included in your VIC Ticket, but all hats and accessories are for purchase.

Step 4: Get your dancing boots on for line dancing lessons

Pat and Lisa of Summit Country Dancing will show you how it’s done! Whether you’re a regular two-stepper or more of a wallflower, VIC tickets include exclusive line dancing lessons with experts Pat and Lisa to give you a refresh before the crowds fill in! Grab your honey (or your drink) and learn a variety of line dances, step by step.

Step 5: Show ‘em how it’s done!

Now that you’ve tasted bourbon, designed a custom hat, and brushed up on your line dancing, you’re ready for the dedicated VIC early set from Union Gray! Enjoy a full hour of country tunes from the opening band before doors open for General Admission. It’s the perfect opportunity to warm up your dancing legs for another set from Union Gray and a headlining set from red dirt legends Micky & the Motorcars.

Don’t miss Rocky Mountain Country Fest – one day only at Warren Station in Keystone, Colorado. Grab VIP Tickets for your crew while supplies last!
